I've been using iview in one form or another since dinosaurs ruled the world. Contrary to what some commenters are saying it infinitely more sophisticated than iphoto - it can catalog sound, video, pdf, and image files. Used properly it's entirely possible to never have to go to the original folder - you have total cataloging control. So this pains me - I just reinstalled the microsoft version because this version fails at allowing you to quickly view images. It is a stunning failure - you sit there waiting for images to take form in front of your eyes - is a little man in the box drawing them? No caching - it's the same every-time. I upgraded because some raw formats couldn't be handled by the old software - I'll just run things through ingestamatic and convert to dng. Not much extra effort and the features of MICROSOFT EXPRESSION MEDIA makes it worth it. (PS - I use a mac and I'm looking fondly back at a Microsoft iteration - the world has truly gone mad.) An email to the developer ( or undeveloper) resulted in a link to a general faq page. That this got out the door in this state is both mind boggling and anger inducing. A unique piece of software being driven into the ground - shame.
